Basic principles of electromagnetism; Laws of Ampere and Faraday; geometric and wave theory of light; interaction of electromagnetic waves and light with matter; techniques and technological applications. The course employs theoretical and laboratory exercises.
Laboratory exercises: Oscilloscope; Resonance in a RCL circuit in series. Electron and hole movement in matter - Hall effect; voltage transformers; optical lenses; spectrograph-calculation of refractive index; interference - interferometer Michelsen, interference and polarisation of light; measuring electricity power; velocity of sound in liquids and air; Ohmic resistance; characteristic diode (p-n conductor); photodiode (light sensor) and light emitting diode (LED);Wheatstone bridge.
